Healing After Trauma: Understanding PTSD and the Journey Forward

1 min read

Trauma can affect the way we think, feel, connect with others, and move through everyday life. For some people, those effects continue long after the traumatic experience has ended.

June is PTSD Awareness Month, making it an important time to remind our community that post-traumatic stress disorder is not a sign of weakness. It is a mental health condition that can develop after experiencing or witnessing trauma.

Symptoms may include nightmares, unwanted memories, avoiding reminders of the event, difficulty sleeping, feeling constantly on alert, or changes in mood.

Healing does not happen on one timeline. Therapy, healthy coping skills, supportive relationships, and appropriate behavioral health services can all be part of recovery.

At Flourishing Minds Wellness Center, we believe your experiences may be part of your story, but they do not have to determine your future.

Flourish Reminder: Healing takes courage. Asking for support can be one of the first steps forward.
